ANNUAL GIVING Thank you for your donations! So far, we have raised $2145 toward our goal of $300 per student! While the City funds basic costs to run the school, we need an additional $150,000 to support our extra programs such as music and dance, wellness and gardening initiatives and many other smaller programs. The PTA raises this extra money annually. • Please consider donating $300 this year for your child OR any amount over $20 that fits into your family s budget. • We greatly appreciate ALL donations. Every amount counts and helps us get to our annual goal! • If you wish to make your donation as a one time payment or a recurring payment, you can do so on our website. Look for the big, red button that says “Annual Giving – Donations” or go to http://www.ps295.org/donations/ Reach out to extended family and friends or ask your employer if they participate in the Matching Gift Programs. There are many people in your child s life who can help support our school in making it a great school filled with rich experiences!

Each year, around this time of year, we partner with a local grocery store to secure gift certificates to distribute to families in our school community who are in need. We have confirmed that Steve’s C-Town at 329 9th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues) will be willing to issue gift certificates in $25 increments. This is best as it allows us to combine two or more to give to larger families. Please consider swinging by Steve’s and picking up a gift certificate or two (ask for a manager, as only managers may issue gift certificates). They are a great help to the families that need them. If you’re not able to go but want to contribute, you may get donations to Tina by December 13th. She can receive donations through: PayPal ([email protected], or 908-400- 6209), Venmo (christine-habib) or Chase Quick Pay ([email protected], or 908-400- 6209). Sergio will need the gift certificates by December 15th for distribution before we are closed for Winter Recess. If you would like to receive a card, please also contact Sergio. Let’s top last year’s $875!

Description

PS 295 is a small elementary school nestled between the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Sunset Park and Windsor Terrace. The school welcomes students with special needs with a Collaborative Team Teaching (CTT) class on every grade.

Mission

PS 295 is a community that embraces diversity by nurturing strengths and talents to educate the whole child socially, academically, culturally and artistically through differentiation in all facets of learning. In recognizing that all children learn in different ways, we believe that an arts integrated curriculum cultivates a more meaningful discovery of self, enhances prior knowledge, supports content and language development and encourages a strong respect and appreciation for the arts. Strengthened by the commitment of our parent community, we value their participation and are dedicated to developing a strong partnership between home and school. Through collaboration and communication each member feels supported and encouraged to take risks, share ideas and become an active participant in their own learning. Our strong professional development program provides ongoing learning and leadership opportunities for all members, while offering students an exemplar for becoming lifelong learners and leaders of the future.

Founded

PS 295 Studio School of Arts and Culture was founded in 1994 (Became a Magnet School dedicated to the arts in 2001)
