#RafflesDecember2017Graduation: #4daystogo Raffles Fashion Designer, SHEN Jialing attained 2nd Runner-up in the 4th edition of the Premio Giuliacarla Cecchi competition, held on 13th November, hosted by the Municipality of Florence, at the Palagio di Parte Guelfa, Sala Brunelleschi! Jialing’s collection is inspired by the cheongsam, originating from China. She wanted to explore further on how ladies wore the cheongsam in the past and how they accessorized their look with a fur cappa. Adopting the concept of an old Chinese saying, ‘red flowers match green leaves’, Jialing created her masterpiece using a double-sided fabric in the colours red and green, and utilizing macramé and quilling techniques to embellish the flower patterns on the outer region of the coats. Under the guidance and support of Raffles Singapore’s team of international Creative Practitioners, Jialing, together with seven other Raffles Fashion Designers and finalists, CUI Yinling, FENG Linlin, TAN Pei Mun, SHEN Wenxuan, HUANG Yasi, DE GUZMAN Ma Renee Angela Esquillo, Vella Febriani SUTANIO, were honoured to have the opportunity to compete with other international finalists in this competition. Be awe-inspired at our Raffles Fashion Designers’ collections at the upcoming December 2017 Graduation Ceremony, Exhibition, and Fashion Show! A big Thank You to all the parents who came by to support our Halloween Celebrations. There are many more whose photos were not captured by us. Kudos to you all!

The Host Programme is a programme in which you can sign up and be assigned to a host for 1-year. Your host could either be NUS staff, alumni, or retirees who are volunteers from RSVP Singapore - The Organisation of Senior Volunteers also known as RSVP Singapore. You can turn to your host for advice and tips to help you adjust to life in Singapore, and learn more about the local culture and lifestyle. As this is not a homestay programme, the common activities that our host families have initiated include taking students out to try local cuisine and inviting students to their homes to celebrate local festivals together.

A very interesting article. Researched and proven that social emotional development is as important as academic development.
