Two years later at the enhanced Campus Green (we call it v2.0), we celebrated the return of a much-loved Banyan Tree and unveiled a sculpture - the 97.5° Arc x 8” is part of Bernar Venet’s Arc series of sculptures. The sculpture illustrates the beauty, balance, and malleability of steel. It will inspire SMU students to always aim high, and grow in strength together! #sgSMU #sculpture Read more - https://www.smu.edu.sg/news/2017/05/25/art-and-nature-embellish-refreshed-smu-campus-green

The Day I Killed a Kangaroo (written by our Primary 6 pupil, inspired from his reading of The Swiss Family Robinson) Dear Penpal, How do you do? I would like to tell you about my greatest experience in my life which took place just this afternoon. I caught a kangaroo! It was a hot day, and I was restlessly perambulating about the island thinking of something interesting to do. I decided to intrude into the forest to seek shelter from the fiery sun, while I went on finding something to do. As I was just passing by the most dense part of the forest, I suddenly heard the sounds of light, quick footsteps, and from the corner of my eye I spotted a dark figure which immediately disappeared before my eyes. Fear stricken, I wondered if my senses were playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn that I had seen something. Gun in my hands, I patiently anticipated for the creature to come to a stop. When it did, I, in the blink of an eye, pulled the trigger. “Bang!” A loud boom, echoed throughout the forest, followed by a light “thud!” on the ground. I, Ernest, had shot down the creature. Overwhelmed with curiosity, I sped over, and behind some low shrubs I saw a large, furry animal with a long tail. It had huge hind legs and puny fore legs. Since it had a pouch in front of its belly, I perceived that this was a rodent, but this the largest one I had ever seen! Speedily, I ran headlong back to Falconhurst to seek the help of my father and brothers, Upon seeing my catch, all but Fritz, who seemed quite vexed, were amazed. Without much difficulty, we hauled it back to camp and gave it to my mother, who was going to cook it for dinner. While devouring the tasty meat, my father explained that what we were feasting on was a kangaroo, a marsupial. I wish you were there when we ate the succulent kangaroo meat! Hope to see you soon! Love, Ernest.
